Jason King

Founder, Kingsland University (Blockchain Academy)

Jason King has a background in technologies and philanthropy. Known as a pioneer in applying blockchain technology to humanitarian work, King founded two of the world’s first cryptocurrency-based charities: Sean’s Outpost and Unsung.org. King is currently focused on solving one of the greatest problem threatening our industry: the significant shortage of well-trained blockchain developers. In an effort to combat this, he co-founded Kingsland School of Blockchain, the world’s first US-accredited blockchain skills training program.

King founded Unsung.org in 2015 to address the more than $500 billion of food wasted in the U.S. every year while 49 million Americans live in hunger. Unsung.org created a sharing economy for food, coordinating volunteers to pick up excess from grocers, restaurants, and catering services and deliver them to America’s hungry. A nonprofit organization powered by Bitcoin, Unsung.org allows supporters to sponsor meals and donate their time to the redistribution effort.

Co-Founder of the Litecoin Association, King contributes to the organization’s mission to advance Litecoin for the good of society by developing and promoting state-of-the-art blockchain technologies. With faster transaction speeds and cheaper fees, Litecoin to often seen as the silver to Bitcoin’s gold. King served as the President of the association from 2013 to 2015.

King was also a member of the Bitcoin Foundation Education Board Member during those years (2013-2015). The Bitcoin Foundation coordinates the efforts of the members of the Bitcoin community, helping to create awareness of the benefits of Bitcoin, how to use it and its related technology requirements, for technologists, regulators, the media and everyone else globally.

In 2013, King joined the Blockchain Education Network as a founding board member. The Blockchain Education Network is a collective of blockchain interest clubs with more than 4,000 members dispersed among over 200 universities in nearly 100 countries. King has extended his expertise as an advisor to aid the success of notable companies making an impact on the blockchain ecosystem. His advisor contributions include roles with Shyft, Polymath, BTCS, Experty, Disciplina, and Beaxy Exchange, companies that span a range of industries from finance to education.
