Wayne Caines

Minister of National Security, Government of Bermuda

Wayne M. Caines, JP, MP, was appointed Bermuda’s Minister of National Security following the Progressive Labour Party’s (PLP) election victory on July 18, 2017. He graduated from Oakwood University, Huntsville, AL, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Minor in Political Science; he is also a graduate of the University of Kent, School of Law, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). The former CEO of Digicel Bermuda, he is also the founder and former CEO of SENIAC Consulting, a telecommunications and organisational consulting firm. A former captain in the Bermuda Regiment, Minister Caines previously served as a crown counsel at Bermuda’s Department of Public Prosecutions, as chief of staff in the Office of the Premier, and as a PLP senator with responsibilities as the junior minister of tourism, transport, environment and sport. He currently oversees the Bermuda government’s cryptocurrency initiative that is creating a legal and regulatory regime and exploring business development opportunities.
